Laneway 1: Guerrilla Art for Curious People

Laneway 1 had, literally, a highly organic beginning.

For years, my back lane was a landscaping low-priority, being a kind of purgatory for unusable building materials, Christmas trees and sundry gew-gaw that were awaiting transport to their final resting places. A high, 30-foot-long long cedar fence surrounds my property, separating my backyard from the back lane. This summer I cleaned up the laneway once and for all, installing a butterfly garden and inaugurating some edible co-gardening with my next door neighbour. When the digging was done I stood back and saw a perfect blank canvas begging for an installation. Nine enlarged photographs and some wheat paste later, Guerrilla Art for Curious People was born.

Because every place is an exhibition space.
